Our Binscombe and Charterhouse team
Standing on Thursday 4th May for Godalming
Representing the areas of Binscombe and Charterhouse, Paul and Michael are standing for Waverley Borough Council and Godalming Town Council to help shape our area and continue delivering for residents.
All of our candidates are standing behind our Building Opportunity manifesto to deliver better public services, quality social housing and investment into our high streets and training.
Paul Rivers is standing for election to:
- Waverley Borough Council in the Godalming Binscombe & Charterhouse ward
- Godalming Town Council in the Binscombe ward
Introducing Paul Rivers
After moving to Godalming in 1976 to teach physics and meeting Penny, Paul moved into computer systems development.
He was first elected to Waverley Borough Council in 2003, and again in 2019 where he’s been able to put his skills to use as Portfolio Holder for Housing (Operations). Paul is particularly proud to have worked with the council’s tenants and housing teams to involve tenants in Waverley’s housing policies and changes. He has helped deliver the council’s commitment to the Charter for Social Housing Residents to ensure residents’ safety, quality homes and rights in case things go wrong.
If re-elected, Paul would continue work on social housing policies that provide affordable, sustainable and quality homes for local residents and our key workers.
Michael Steel is standing for election to Godalming Town Council in the Charterhouse ward.
Michael and his wife Jane have both lived in Godalming for most of their lives, and currently he is a semi-retired chartered accountant.
For many years, they have both been involved in youth related activities and have been foster carers helping 30 children over a 12 year period.
Michael has been a member of the Town council for the past 4 years and has been Town Mayor, and would very much like to continue serving his community if re-elected.
