Our Farnham Weybourne team
Richard (left) and Mat (second from right) are standing for election on Thursday 4th May for Waverley Borough and Farnham Town Councils this May alongside Cllr Mark Merryweather, and hope residents will support them to bring Liberal Democrat values to our councils.
All of our candidates are standing behind our Building Opportunity manifesto to deliver better public services, quality social housing and investment into our high streets and training.
Richard Steijger
Richard is standing for election to Waverley Borough Council this May in the Weybourne ward.
Richard has lived in Farnham with his family for nearly 20 years and works locally in environment services, while his wife works for the NHS.
He's an active member of his local church, having helped to run the youth group, a Campaign for Real Ale member supporting local pubs and cheers on his children at local sports clubs.
Richard's movitation to stand comes from wanting to give back to his local community and he's especially interested in contributing to a better living environment. Also, with the cost-of-living crisis, it is essential that Waverley provides residents with the best services in terms of quality and value-for-money.
Mat Brown
Mat is standing for election to Farnham Town Council this May.
A resident of Weybourne for nearly twenty years, Mat is married with two children and works as a plumber and heating engineer. During his career, he's trained many apprentices and is extremely interested in developing and training young people in both technical expertise and the softer skills like customer service and communication.
Mat was a Special Constable in Farnham for ten years, working with the excellent community officers in Badshot Lea, Weybourne and Hale. He is fully committed to listening to and representing the concerns of all the people in the area.
