Penny Rivers for Godalming North

Penny Rivers is standing for re-election on Thursday 1st May 2025 to be your local representative in Godalming North.

I am Penny Rivers, a longstanding Liberal Democrat currently serving on Godalming Town, Waverley Borough and Surrey County Councils. I became County Councillor for Godalming North in 2017 and was re-elected in 2021. At Surrey County Council, I have sat on the Planning and Regulatory Committee voting against fossil fuel drilling, and delivering safer traffic arrangements at Chalk Road, Meadrow and Station Road, Farncombe. I have also negotiated the retention of open access through The Avenue – the link to Binscombe from B3000.

I am very pleased that, by working with residents, local shops and Godalming Town Council, we persuaded the CEO and kept Boots in Farncombe open.

At the County, I have been successful in allocating funding to local organisations – Godalming Band, Farncombe Youth Football Club, Skillway, the Meath, Farncombe Cricket Club, the Farncombe Community Garden, Farncombe Day Centre, Broadwater Youth Centre Garden, Broadwater School, Godalming Junior School, and the Godalming Christmas Day lunch (for those who would otherwise be on their own).

I have been Town Mayor and Waverley Mayor, reflecting my commitment to serving our community where I have lived for 50 years.

Keep up with Penny's activities on Facebook.
